Shirley Jackson's Drawings of Hill House

One of the spookiest books (and movies) is THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE. Author Shirley Jackson drew rough plans of the house, which remained unseen until now. It's (probably correct) conjecture that these drawings helped her envision the story. Both her father and grandfather were architects.

Contemporary writer Susan Scarf Merrell found them at the Library of Congress and posts a number of these Shirley Jackson sketches at her blog.

Bit hat tip to Forbidden Planet!

Oh, and when I say that the movie version, titled THE HAUNTING, is one of the scariest movies, I mean the original Robert Wise film. Not the remake, for goodness sake!
